Oncology Massage in Hurlstone Park | Gentle care for people who have ever been diagnosed with cancer.

What is oncology massage?

Oncology massage is a gentle, thoughtfully adapted massage for people who have ever been diagnosed with cancer—whether you are currently receiving treatment, living with cancer or finished treatment many years ago.

It is supportive care, rather than a treatment for cancer. The intention is to offer gentle touch, relaxation and comfort alongside your medical care. This may involve changing the pressure, pace, positioning, areas treated and time spent receiving massage. There is no expectation to tolerate firm pressure or vigorous movements.

What to expect at your appointment

Time to talk

At your first appointment, we’ll discuss your cancer history, past and current treatments, medications, any surgery or lymph node removal, and how you are feeling today.

Where relevant, we may also discuss recent blood results or guidance from your healthcare team. This helps us decide what is appropriate for your session.

A plan made together

Before beginning, we’ll discuss the proposed massage, comfortable positioning and any areas that need to be avoided. We may need certain health information before proceeding safely.

Gentle, unhurried treatment

Your massage may focus on selected areas rather than the whole body. Pillows and supports can help you settle into a comfortable position, including side-lying or a supported position where appropriate.

Care that responds to the day

At each returning appointment, we’ll check for changes in your health, treatment and energy level. Your massage can change as your needs change. You are welcome to request a change, take a break or stop at any time.
